Events at The 1896 unfold in fully realized, production & Camera-ready environment built for image-making, storytelling, and live experiential work.
A distinct space with hand-hewn textures, raw brick, and an historic industrial setting give the warehouses a rugged, cinematic character that reads beautifully on camera—while remaining fully finished, flexible with easy in & out and technically equipped for professional use for Shoots or Events.

Capacity & Permitting.
FULL SCALE EVENTS:
Up to 1200 guests are required to obtain a Temporary Permit of Assembly (TPA) through NYC.

- The 1896 is primarily a Film and Photo Stage and is not zoned for Public Assembly.
- TPA ‘House Team’ : Architect, Expeditor & Permit support required for TPA’s
- Rates for TPA $4-8K approx.
- Filing for a TPA should be at least 4 weeks prior to the event but shorter notice, up to 14-10 days out, can be arranged as well. (Fees may apply)
- All events over 100+ ppl must use our house security team through FIRST PRIORITY SECURITY.
- Approximately one guard for every 100 ppl is required for all events.
- And minimum of one (1) House staff of The1896 is also required at Client expense.
PRIVATE GATHERINGS:
*275 people and fewer

- If planning to have alcohol present at your event (on premise, provided or sold) a Liquor Permit is required.
- Liquor permits can be obtained through any off-site licensed Caterer / Catering Company.
- Events 75 ppl+ are required to rent the outdoor Courtyard as the addition of this space adds +200 guests to our capacity.

Pricing.
Our pricing for Events is based on the number of spaces you rent, ranging from a Single Area rental to our All Access package (which includes all three interior spaces plus the outdoor courtyard).
- Pricing covers the period from initial load-in to final load-out.
- Rates based on 6 hr rentals for Private Gatherings and 14 hr rentals for Full Scale Events.
- You may choose rent for shorter or longer periods, and you may even opt for a 24-hour rental window.
- Multiple-day events with isolated prep days and wrap days will receive a 75% discounted rate for those rental days.
- Two tier pricing: Private Gathering (such as a dinner party or birthday party) or a Full-Scale Event (such as Branded or Promotional events or Weddings).
Private Gathering Event Rates:
Single Area with Courtyard/Drive entrance / 6 hrs = $5,000
Double Area with Courtyard Drive / 6 hrs = $8,000
Full Scale Event Rates & Weddings:
Double Area Stage Rental @ The 1896
Includes: Courtyard/Drive plus either Area 2 Stage,or Area 3 Stage.
Rate: $15,000 / 14 hours
+ staffing, cleaning, TPA prep (if applicable), trash fee
The Main Stages at The 1896 (3 Areas)
Includes: Area 2 Stage, Area 3 Stage, and our handsome Courtyard/Drive.
Rate: $18,000 /14 hours
+ staffing, cleaning, TPA prep (if applicable), trash fee

Most Private Gatherings and Branded / Corporate Events Include these additional spaces when renting the affiliated Stage.

These unfurnished spaces can accommodate the back of house, coat check, talent holding etc.
Please note: Our private hair and makeup rooms, furnished client areas are off-limits for large overnight music vents and/or events where the house has determined there is a risk to the delicate upholstered furniture within.
Additional Details:
- The 1896 serves principally as a Film and Photo Shooting Location and is therefore not currently zoned as a public assembly space.
- With a Temporary Permit of Assembly (TPA), The 1896 has held up to 1,200 guests max. (at any given time)
- This permitting process requires at least a 2-week lead time and preferably one month or more.
- TPA fees apply in the range of $4-8K.
- The 1896 requires use of their House Architect & Expeditor team (with time-saving familiarity with our spaces) in most cases.
- If alcohol is present at the event (on premise, provided or sold) a NY State Liquor Permit is mandatory.
- These can be obtained through any Caterer / Catering Company with off-site licensing. At least two full week’s notice or more (preferred).
- There are no sound or timing restrictions.
- We provide a curated list of trusted vendors for table/chair rentals, lighting, audio, and catering—but you’re also welcome to use your own.

Four Large interconnected spaces, true drive-in access, and flexible indoor–outdoor flow allow productions and events to move, scale, and capture seamlessly.
Designed to transform, the campus regularly functions as a venue-scale production setting for immersive brand activations, advertising campaigns, press & influencer events, from roller skating product launches to next-level masquerade birthday parties, art fairs to concerts, live opera & performance to immersive transformations.
The same textured industrial setting also supports weddings and intimate gatherings that call for atmosphere, character, and a strong sense of occasion—while maintaining the reliability, finish, and technical readiness expected by professional crews.
